To Jews and Muslims, Delaying Circumcision Would Be Disturbing - Room for Debate - NYTimes.com

To Jews and Muslims, Delaying Circumcision Would Be Disturbing - Room for Debate - NYTimes.com

For Jews throughout the world, there is no “room for debate” on the issue of ritual circumcision, a fundamental and ancient precept of Judaism. The universal reaction from Jews has been shock and outrage at the decision by the Cologne court criminalizing one of the most sacred elements of the Jewish religion. It is among the first commandments given to Abraham in the Book of Genesis and, representing the essential affirmation of Jewish identity for all male Jews, was commanded a second time in Leviticus. The ruling by the Cologne court sends a disturbing message to all Jews and Muslims in Germany that their religious beliefs are not welcome.

Yup, that's it. We, the sane inhabitants of the world, refuse to go along with barbaric rituals that you choose to cling to.  We also don't like stoning people to death, or selling captured women and children into slavery, or putting to death women found not to be virgins on their wedding night. Or permitting fathers to beat their errant children.
