Video Privacy Class > Commonly Asked Questions

This is the kind of lawsuit that gives class action lawsuits a bad name.  2.25 million to the lawyers. $30,000 split between the 6 persons who brought the suit. And for what? Because netflix might have kept a record of what movies people watched. Big fucking deal. If you don't like it, don't rent movies from netflix.
the end result of this lawsuit will be that the rest of the users of netflix will pony up the 2.25 million to line the pockets of useless lawyers.
Don't misunderstand me: I am completely and absolutely in favor of someone's right to sue, if a company is doing something that will cause harm to the consumer. Actual harm. Not some imagined slight. "Oh, I didn't get my dvd fast enough!" That doesn't count.
