Enjoy The Show « Science-Based Life

Good post by Kyle Hill on the lack of science on TV: especially on channels that used to be know for their science shows.
I cancelled my cable connection a long time ago: gave away my TV.
Just started watching a limited amount of TV at the gym. Each bike has it's own little screen, with a whopping 8 channels to choose from! Lifetime! Oxygen! 3 Sports Channels! Fox News! CNN! and the History channel. Aha, the History Channel. This is where I can find something worth while, to take my mind off the whir of the bike pedals. But wait, what is this? Pawn Stars? The Search for Bigfoot? Some other show with people hunting for 'junk' in people's back yards and sheds? This is history?
It's all just a big race to the bottom of the pile, an appeasement of the most base human instincts.
Remember when MTV used to actually have music videos on it? Some crap, but some really weird and inventive ones. Now, it's sex drugs and guns. And rap [which is mostly sex drugs and guns, IMHO].
